David wrote Psalm 23. Before he was a king, he took care of sheep. He knew what a shepherd does. A shepherd leads the sheep to grass. He leads them to water. He keeps them safe at night.
So David said, "The Lord is my shepherd." Not just a shepherd. My shepherd. That means God knows David. God knows you too.
"I lack nothing" means the sheep has what it needs. God gives us what we need. He does not give us every toy we want. But He always gives us His love.
Jesus is like that shepherd. He is kind. He welcomes children. He listens when you talk to Him. You can tell Him about your lunch bench, your sad days, and your happy days.
Today, sing "Jesus loves me" with someone you love.

Today's Story
✍️Fictitious Story
Dinesh sat at the end of the lunch bench, the way he always did. Emma sat down beside him. She had been picked last for the relay team, and she did not eat.
Dinesh opened his workbook. In the margin he drew a shepherd standing on a hill with one small sheep beside him. He had drawn it after Sunday school, when his teacher read Psalm 23 out loud and said the shepherd knows every sheep by name.
"Jesus knows your name too," Dinesh said.
Emma looked at the picture for a long time. Then they sang "Jesus loves me" quietly, two times, and Emma ate her lunch.
